Acupuncture & Acupressure

It seems incredible that wellness can be attained by inserting superfine needles or pressing special points on the body. Yet by stimulating these “acupoints” along electrical pathways known as “meridians”, it is possible to bring the body back into a state of balance.

Acupuncture’s beneficial effects are now backed by science and after thousands of years of acceptance in the East, many people in Western countries are now heading to a Chinese Doctor or Acupuncturist to manage their health while still working with the medical counterpart. Acupuncture may be beneficial for such conditions as stress, depression & anxiety, pain & injuries, headaches, gut complaints, weight loss and hormonal imbalance.

Using a combination of acupuncture, acupressure and cupping, Marc has great success in addressing:

  • Depression & Anxiety

  • Stress & Insomnia

  • Injuries & pain management

  • Neck, back & shoulder pain

  • Headaches & migraines

  • Sinus issues & allergies

  • Hormonal balance & Infertility

  • Weight loss & Digestive Complaints

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a vital force called Qi (pronounced “chee”) and its flow along meridians is the basis for health. Recent scientific studies have proven the existence of this seemingly mystical force and its flow as an electrical current formed due to a pressure buildup between the walls of the fascia - the bands of connective tissue that separate everything and give form.

The super-fine sterile and disposable stainless-steel acupuncture needles are tapped into special points on the body (called Acupoints) that have very few pain receptors and treatment with a skilled acupuncturist causes surprisingly little pain. The needles, which are usually left in for around 30 minutes, improve circulation to the area, stimulate the immune system and reduce pain and inflammation. They are also thought to affect both the individual organs and their communication with each other.

Many people notice an immediate improvement in moods and pain during acupuncture due to the release of neurotransmitters, serotonin, noradrenaline and the pain-killing feel-good endorphin hormones. Many feel very calm after a treatment, others feel tired and others leave feeling happy and energised. Some effects may take several treatments before they are noticed. The risk of negative effects caused by acupuncture is extremely low.
